Happy Boxing Day

December 24, 2013

I’m going to put it out there and make a statement: Christmas is THE most stressful day of the year. Or more to the point the lead up to Christmas is THE most stressful time of the year.
For many, who may not be with family and friends, it is also one of the loneliest times of the year. It can serve to remind people of missing loved ones, and those who are no longer with us.
I always look forward to boxing day, where the stress and yearly reflection of christmas is over. The shops are all shut and I can spend the day at home in my PJ’s, with the dog and watch DVD’s all day. There is no pressure and its the first day I can really start to feel like relaxing a bit. I’m not sure why but just the words “Boxing Day” seem to signal the start for everyone that it’s time to relax, unwind and start to enjoy the summer.
Thank god Christmas is over, which also means that god the pre Christmas rush is also over.
This morning I woke up to rain. Rain relaxes, rain washes away the stress, rain forces you to go a bit slower. It was perfect for staying in bed and reading a book, which is exactly what I have done today.
There’s a whole year before we have to do Christmas again.
Happy Boxing Day.

The view I woke up to this morning……blissful ‘Christmas is over’ rain.
