2016: Change, Simplify and Create

January 1, 2016

Happy New Year everyone! 2016 is finally here! I was asleep at about 11:30pm so I missed it and forgot all about the fireworks at 9, so I didn’t see any of it.

New Years Resolutions never work. We all know that, even resolutions that aren’t made on January 1 don’t work. Hence why I spent over $600 this year on a gym membership that i used…once! Once. What a pump class! And that was the one I got for free to entice me to join.

So this year instead (inspired by this post I saw on Apartment Therapy), I am using three words as my “Mantra” for the year.

Change – letting go of what I cannot change, who I cannot change, not accepting the situation as it is. I can’t expect things in my life to be any different if I don’t change them. There is a saying that you can’t repeat the same year 78 times and call it a life.

Simplify – both physical stuff and mental stuff. Declutter. Only buy what is necessary. Encourage life/work balance. Because work should always come after life. Don’t say “Yes” to things that I should be saying “No” to.

Create – Create the life I want to live, create through blogging, writing, art. Be creative in the way I approach life.

A lot of these I started last year, but I really want to focus and continue on these intention based goals this year.

I know that 2015 was a time of turmoil for a lot of people. Fingers crossed that is behind us all and we can focus on an awesome 2016!

What are your goals for this year? I would love to hear about them.
