I Used to be Cool

September 14, 2015

I used to be cool. Honestly. I did. Stop Laughing!

Weekends were spent drinking, seeing the latest band, mosh pits, festivals, sleeping off a hangover, recovering. It would’t be unusual to be out Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. And then back it up for work 8am Monday!

Now just 15 a few short years later, honestly, I would rather recover from minor surgery than a hangover. I think it’s also about the same amount of recovery time. I also find myself on Friday nights in bed by about 9:30pm, not much later on Saturday night after a hefty night watching Gardening Australia and Grand Designs with a cup of earl grey, my PJ’s on, dog on my lap! Occasionally I am asleep on the lounge even before then, dribbling on myself.

The other thing that has changed is craft. Yes that’s right. I am spending time crafting. Making stuff! I am cross stitching and framing two unicorns for one of my nieces and two llamas wearing Mexican fiesta costumes for my other niece. I am hoping these will form part of their Christmas presents. How is that for organisation! Christmas normally involves me throwing some ‘cash’ at the problem on Christmas Eve.

How did this happen to me?

Just to prove this is legit: the before and afters!

The noonicorns! (As one niece would call them) ready for framing!

The unicorns and my next one the llamas were purchased from Etsy. They were a super-dooper easy kit – all cotton, aida cloth, needle included. If a novice like me can make it then you could do it too!

What have you made recently? How has your life changed in the last 15 years? Would you recognise yourself?
