The 100 Thing Challenge

July 20, 2014

I read a lot of crap very important stuff on the internet, and lately I have been hearing a lot about the 100 thing challenge. Have you heard of it?

My extensive internet research has shown that people who take this challenge fall into 2 distinct camps.

The first, which is the one I will be doing, is to remove 100 items from your home/wardrobe cupboard that you don’t need. Either throwing away, donating to charity or selling on to others.

The second is to reduce the entire number of contents in your life to just 100 items. People even go so far as to include furniture and items such as deodorant in their total 100 things. Whilst I am a fan of minimalist, 1 guy even got it down to 50 things. I need to be realistic and know that I am a shopoholic that loves her ‘stuff’. I just emptied out my handbag and there were already 35 items. So I don’t think a truly ‘minimalist’ approach to life is for me.

Is there such a thing as a maximalist?
I completed it in 25 minutes. Piece of Cake.

So 100 things it is, and this should be a piece of cake…

And it was.

This weekend I set about completing my 100 thing challenge, and to make it even tougher, I gave myself 100 minutes to complete it in.

The fact that I purged 100 items without really blinking an eye makes me think: I might do it again next week!
Or once a month!
Yes – unfortunately some of the items still had their tags attached.
Love a good purge….lets just hope it doesn’t mean time for more items to come in!
